Come and help Timpir and Prospect Kiwanis provide education for over 1,500 primary school students at Wäramoth and Mabok Primary Schools in South Sudan. Get together a table of 8-10 (or come by yourself and join a table) for a night of fun, entertainment and great prizes. BYO food and drinks to share at your table. Tickets $20 per person, and don’t forget to bring some gold coins for games.

Join us for Brisbane’s first Timpir African Dinner

We are excited to have the Founder of Timpir, Dr Melanie Baak, visiting Brisbane on Monday 10 July 2023 and have decided to try something a little different from a movie night and will be holding an African dinner to raise much-needed funds. Our schools have recently struggled not only through COVID but have had terrible floods and our classrooms have been damaged. The community are trying their hardest to rebuild the classrooms, and in the meantime, classes continue under the trees. Funds raised will assist in rebuilding and buying much needed blackboards etc., along with paying the teachers’ salaries. A teacher in South Sudan earns $100 per month (that is less than a take-away coffee each day for the month!!).

After the rains

We will be holding our fundraising dinner at Mu’ooz Restaurant (Not-For Profit Restaurant) at West End, founded and managed by Saba who has been kind enough to support Timpir and host our dinner at her Eritrean Restaurant. Saba is well known in Brisbane and has helped more than 270 refugee and migrant women gain vocational training. Saba was the Qld state recipient local hero in 2022 and was one of 10 Australians to be invited to the Queen’s Funeral.

A raffle and a wine pull will be held on the night, along with a short presentation from Timpir Founder, Dr Melanie Baak.

Join us for an evening of delicious African food at African Village! Ticket covers food and tea with alcohol available for sale on the night. A wine pull will also be available with a range of wines. Please email us at admin@timpir.org if you have any special dietary requirements (i.e. vegetarian or gluten free). All proceeds will support our two schools in South Sudan.

Tickets are $55 for a variety of traditional Ethiopian dishes. Book soon as tickets are limited!

What a fantastic night at the 2018 Timpir Quiz night! Thanks to the more than 100 people who attended, got tables together and contributed to help us raise over $5000 to support Timpir’s projects in South Sudan. A huge thanks to Peter Cassidy for his MCing and getting all the questions together. Emily, Tash and Lynda for getting all the prizes. Henry for coordinating the hall, sound, IT etc. Kuol, Gai and Graeme who helped pack everything away at the end of a long night. And all the businesses who donated the fantastic range of prizes, silent auction, wine pull and other donations. Timpir’s annual quiz night raising money to support our two schools and over 800 students in South Sudan is on again in 2016. Join our quizmaster Peter Cassidy for a fun and possibly even educational evening!
